SUMMARY:Gumbaynggirr Fire- Property Assessment Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Gumbaynggirr people have known how to care for Country for thousands of years. This has included using fire to keep Country\, culture and people healthy and strong. As Settlers\, non-Aboriginal people\, we have a lot to learn about how to look after where we live in a way that respects Gumbaynggirr knowledge and culture. During this workshop\, local Gumbaynggirr cultural knowledge holder\, Matt Flanders\, will teach us how to think about fire in a different way. He will cover topics like- what are cultural burns\, how are they different to Settler approaches to fire\, how can we read Country for signs of needing fire and what are the next steps.
