Seed Saving

seedsaving-1

Learn to save seeds from this year’s harvest and plant them again next year. Join Jeff Alcott from the Bellingen Seed Savers Group for a talk on the values of seed saving, techniques, tips and tricks, dos and don’ts.

The session will also include an interactive demonstration with seed processing, discussion on sourcing and selection of suitable varieties and Q&A to cover participant’s experiences and interests. Please join us for this hands-on presentation at the magnificent Coffs Regional Community Gardens, morning tea provided.

Jeff started growing fruit and vegetables when he was only 12 years of age at his parent’s cattle property south of Grafton. A few years later he moved to tropical NT and learned how to grow a vast array of Asian edibles and native bush tucker plants. Moving to the Coffs Coast presented many new challenges. He joined Bellingen Seed Savers to gain knowledge on growing food-producing plants in this region. He currently co-ordinates activities for seed-collection, cleaning, packing and labelling. He also manages a database of seed stock, labels and seed information.

The workshop is free but numbers are limited, so please book so you don't miss out.
