Come and learn the basics of pottery and create your own clay artwork in this Play With Clay Workshop!

The Play with Clay workshop for kids is part of the NAIDOC Growin & Groovin event that runs from 9am-3pm at Woolgoolga Community Garden.

All ages are welcome! Parents - you don't need to register an additional spot/s for yourselves. Please only book spots for your child/children. Parents are of course welcome to be present if they'd like to help out.

THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE SESSIONS - Please pick the time that best suits.

Session #1 runs from 10:30-11:30am.

Session #2 runs from 12:00-1:00pm.

This workshop will be facilitated by Lilly Clegg, an artist from Yarrawarra Culural Centre.

In the old days Corindi Beach was named for the clay in the Pipeclay Lake . “Girrin-da”. (“Girrin” being the name of the clay, and “da” meaning “Where the clay is at”). This is the root of the word Corindi.

The Gumbaynggirr People used to trade and create with the clay, and it was seen as a very valuable asset. There’s something about molding parts of the earth into art that is so satisfying, no matter what you make!
